Vanity - Dead Exit

from Safe Hands/Vanity Split (7" EP) by Vanity

about

Dead Exit is a song about my own first-hand experiences with as well as witnessing love/hate relationships that may be experienced with something or someone you care a little bit too much, to the point where sometimes you wish you didn't care so much about that particular thing or person. In a way the song is about obsession and learning to be not so serious over matters.

lyrics

Things aren't the same or what they used to be,
But I can't tell if thats a good or a bad thing,
People always going, people always change,
It's a reoccurrence I'll see in this day and age,

I don't know if I want to be with you
or just the idea of wanting to be with you,
Catching up just to find I'm already lost,
Walking the same path where I originally was,

What did you expect would happen?
Ambitions aren't there for you to reach out and just grab them, Thrillseeking for a reaction,
And to prove that everything doesn't happen like imagined.

Now I'm off to war with this familiar foe,
The enemy of yesterday has taken it's toll,
Distanced myself thinking I could pull through,
Still the ghosts of past commitments will forever haunt you,

I need to learn the art of letting go

You don't know what you mean to me and you were never meant to be what I need from you make me hate you make me hate myself more than I already do.
